OBITUARY
ISAAC FAWCETT
On Tuesday, March 13th, at his home in Mabel, Minn., Isaac Fawcett, passed away, aged 78 years, 3 months and 20 days. Mr. Fawcett's death followed an illness of several months during which he was a patient sufferer.
Mr. Fawctet was born in Xenia, Ohio, on Nov. 22, 1840 (1849), and was a son of John and Phoebe Fawcett. With his parets and three sisters he came to Iowa from Indiana in 1857. The journey was made in a covered wagon. The family located on a farm in Hesper township where the deceased resided for fifty-five years, and which is now occupied by his son Ralph.
On Oct. 8, 1878, Mr. Fawcett was united in marriage to Ellen Casterton. Three children were born of this union - Ralph, Mrs. C. A. Tomerassen of La Crosse, and Lillian at home. Beside his wife and children he is survived by four grandchildren, four sisters and a brother. The latter are Mrs. Carrie Tavener of Decorah, Mrs. Roe White of Hesper, Mrs. Alice Cutting of Tigard, Ore., Mrs. Will Chase, of Allen, Neb:, and Granville Fawcett of Mabel. One sister - Mrs. Mitchell - preceded him in death on March 18th, 1902.
Mr. Fawcett was a birthright member of the Friends churcn at Hesper and was held in sincere respect because of the high standard of his manhood, his citizenship and his devotion to his family and the better things of life. Funeral services were held on Saturday last at the Friends church in Hesper, Rev. Sams and Rev. F. W. Kain officiating, and interment was made in the Hesper cemetery.
Among those present at the funeral were Mrs. Tavener, Herman Tavener, and daughter Dorothy and Mr. and Mrs. Gaffney of Castalia.
