THE SILENT REAPER.
After an illness of two weeks from pleurisy and pneumonia, Gustav Gorder died Friday evening last at the hospital, where he was taken several days previous. Mr. Gorder has not been in good health for several years and previous to his last illness had been affected with jaundice. About two weeks ago he was taken with a severe chill and pneumonia set in. His condition from the start was such that his physician could offer no hope of recovery. Mr. Gorder was born March 9th, 1861, at Albany, Wis., and was married in 1887 to Charlotte Wiltzine. They moved to Emmetsburg, Iowa, three years later, and engaged in farming until six years ago when they came to Decorah to reside. Although a man of little outward display, Mr. Gorder impressed all who formed his acquaintance by his integrity and Christian character. He is survived by his wife and son Lester, the latter a student at Luther College. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, service in English at two o’clock at the house followed by service in Norwegian at 2:30 at the church, and interment was made in the Norwegian cemetery.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he died Mar. 12, 1915. He is buried in the Decorah Lutheran Cemetery. It also shows his wife’s maiden name spelled Weltzin.
