Frank was born on December 8, 1946, in Decorah, Iowa to Frank and Marjorie (Hove) Barth. He was the third of four siblings, Eugene, Kathryn, Frank and James.
After graduating from Lake Forest High School, in Lake Forest, IL, he attended Luther College and graduated in 1969 with a degree in Sociology. He then attended Gettysburg Seminary in Gettysburg, PA and graduated with a Masters of Divinity degree in 1973.
Frank was an exceptional athlete, both at Lake Forest High School and Luther College. He earned letters in football, basketball and tennis every year at Luther, where he received many honors and still holds several school records. He was inducted into the Luther College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1980.
Following his Seminary graduation, Frank was ordained by the Lutheran Church and served as a Campus Pastor to students at Lehman College in the Bronx and Hunter College in Manhattan, where he helped to run a Coffee House called "Still Mountain." At the same time, he served Our Saviors Atonement Lutheran church in Upper Manhattan from 1973 to 1976. Frank was then called to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Mount Kisco, NY, where he served until the early 80's when he left the ministry and became the manager of the José Limón Dance Company. Later that decade, he acquired a Masters degree in Social Work and after years of study, became a Jungian Analyst with a practice in NYC and later in Vermont.
Frank was married in 1968 to Margaret Lee (now Harris) and they had two sons, Jason and Aaron. After they divorced, he married Carla Maxwell. After that, he was married to Melinda Haas, a Jungian Analyst, for 35 years until his death.
Having the natural spirit of an excellent coach, Frank’s gifts of energy and leadership were obvious with everything and every person he touched. His humor, playfulness, stubbornness and feistiness were known far and wide, even until his death.

He is also survived by his sons, Jason Barth and Aaron (Jenna) Barth and two granddaughters Kirsten (Bruce) Silk, and Lauren Barth.
