Anna Catherine Schafer was born at Itzhausen, Hessen, Darmstadt, Germany on the twenty-fifth of May, 1832. She was married to Casper Fischer in the year 1852. Eight children were born to this union six of whom are living to survive their loving mother viz Henry residing at Kensett, IA, Catharine married to Mr. Klau, at Aberdeen, S. Dak., Fred at Greene, IA. George at Clarkfield, Minn., John near Marble Rock, IA. Margaret married to Mr. Bengs at Aberdeen, S.D.

In the year 1872 Casper Fischer intended to immigrate to America with his family but four weeks prior to the time set for the departure the husband of the deceased was taken from her side. Our widowed sister in Christ thought it best to follow out the intentions of her husband as to the emigration to America was accomplished in the spring of 1872. The deceased with her family for the first settled down on a farm near Decorah, IA., where for several years she had to contend with many trials and hardships. In the year 76 the deceased moved to Floyd Co. Iowa from where she followed her son George to Clarkfield Minn. about three years ago.

Our beloved sister enjoyed the best of health up to the days of advanced age, It was not until about three years ago that her health failed due to old age therefore medical skill thought called up by her children was professedly in vain.

In the morning of the 28th of October at the hour of 2:30 the Lord called home his faithful servant to the realms of heavenly glory at the age of 75 years 4 months 16 days.

The deceased rejoiced in the assurance that the soul of the righteous is in God's hand and that no evil can touch it. We rejoice that she has found rest and for ourselves and for all the mourners over her we wish a religious live and peaceful death and the assurance that the Lord will take the anxious by the hand
lead the spirit to its rest.
