J. E. Tucker Dead.
Word came to Decorah friends Monday stating that Julius E. Tucker, oldest son of the late H. S. Tucker, had died that day at his home in Minneapolis.
Mr. Tucker was born at Bennington, Vt., Sept. 13, 1844. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1853 and settled on the farm in Canoe township. In March, 1870, he married Francis Kennedy, who, with his mother, survives him. Besides his wife three children survive him,--Robert S., Frank E. and Bessie M., and his brother, John S. Tucker. In 1864 he enlisted in the 13th Iowa infantry and served until the close of the war. The funeral was held in Minneapolis under the auspices of the G. A. R. post and the remains were brought to Decorah Tuesday night and taken to Burr Oak for burial yesterday morning.
Mr. Tucker is remembered by acquaintances as a resident for many years of Burr Oak township, where the basis of a competence was laid in farming. Subsequently the family removed to Decorah, where they lived for a time before going to Minnesota, where they have since resided.
