Mrs. Lucy Kneeskern died at the home of her son J. H. Kneeskern, Wednesday, Oct. 14th, at the advanced age of 90 years past, from the infirmity of old age. For the last four years she had made her home with her son here, and who did all he could to make her declining years as comfortable as possible. She was a quiet and unassuming woman and was highly respected by all who knew her. For many years she was a member of the M. E. church and held her membership to the time of her death. The funeral occurred from the U. B. church here, the Rev. Hursh officiating. The body was interred by the side of her husband at Frankville. Among those from a distance who came to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Steve Allen and Mr. and Mrs. Winger of Mason City, Robert Beadle of Austin, Minn., Mrs. Shattuck of Decorah and Mrs. Addie Kneeskern of Burr Oak. We are not furnished an obituary.

Lucy Wilson was born in St. Lawrene Co., New York, Marh 13, 1824, and died Oct. 14, 1914, at the advanced age of 90 years, 7 months and 1 day. At the age of ten years she with her parents moved to Oswego county, N. Y., and here she was married June 14, 1849, to William Henry Kneeskern. In 1858 they emigrated to the west, coming to Winneshiek county, Iowa, settling near Frankville, where they braved the hardships of a pioneer’s life and built their home. To this union eight children were born five boys and three girls,--Celia, William, Myron, Peter, Alma, John, Henry, Nancy Mariah and George. Five of them have preceded her to the great beyond and three remain, as follows:--Mrs. Alma Crabtree near Castalia, John of Castalia, and George of Decorah. In 1893 her husband died, leaving her to battle with life alone and with a brave heart she met the difficulties until her children came to her rescue. The past four years she has made her home with her son John, where every attention was given for her best welfare, but her extreme age and infirmities claimed her at last. Mrs. Kneeskern gave her heart to the Lord about 40 years ago and joined the M. E. church, of which she remained a faithful member until death. Beside the children, 30 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors remain to cherish her memory. When the end came it found her ready. She could say, come, welcome death thou end of fear. I am prepared to go. She has gone to join the church triumphant. The funeral services were held at the U. B. church at Castalia Friday morning at 10 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Hursh. The remains were brought to Frankville where interment was made in the village cemetery by the side of her husband.
