OBITUARY.
Mrs. Jacob Seegmiller passed away last Friday, the 13th inst., at the family residence on West Main street, after an illness covering three years, death being due to kidney trouble.
Mrs. Seegmiller’s maiden name was Mary Schwalm, and she was born Sept. 8, 1841, at Betzhaussen, Hessen, Germany. At the age of six years she came to Canada with her parents, who located in Oxford Co. There she grew to womanhood and was married on Feby. 22, 1860, to Jacob Seegmiller. In March 1861, they came to this county and settled in Canoe township, where they resided for forty-two years. During the past twelve years they have resided in Decorah. Of fourteen children born to them, seven survive. They are John of Clay Hill, Mrs. Emma Fricker of Brainard, Minn., Mrs. Lydia Koenig of Wilton Junction, and Gideon, William, Reuben and Aaron of Locust. One brother,--John Schwalm of St. Joe, Mo.,--also survives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Rev. G. S. Lackland officiated in the home at two o’clock, and Rev. Day of Cresco at the Evangelical church, Locust, at two o’clock. Interment was made in the Locust cemetery.
