Albert Soukup, who has been quite poorly for some time, passed to the Great Beyond last Thursday afternoon. His wife preceded him a few years ago. This leaves the children without any parents, and they have the heartfelt sympathy of all their friends and relatives.

It was a shock to the whole community last Thursday to hear that Albert Soukup of near Ridgeway, a member of our congregation, was dead. Although he has been failing in health some time it was not expected that death would be the result so soon. He died at his home near Ridgeway, Thursday, March 5th, 1914, the cause of death being heart trouble. The funeral occurred Sunday at 1 o’clock p. m. at the St. Wenceslaus church, and the remains were laid to rest in the adjourning cemetery. Rev. Thos. Ballon performed the obsequies. Anton Balik was the funeral director. He belonged to the Catholic Workmen and to the Knights of St. George societies, who escorted him to his last resting place. Albert Soukup was born at Vodnany, Bohemia, Nov. 18, 1860. In 1877 he came to America and settled first at Fort Atkinson. February 6th, 1884, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Chekal at Fort Atkinson. His wife preceded him in death a year and a half ago. To them were born eight children, Mrs. Will Reihle, Christina, Mrs. James Bena, Rose, Mrs. Frank Bena, Albina near Spillville and Misses Otilia and Anna and Joseph James and Albert, who are at home near Ridgeway. All things on earth shall slowly pass away, even the great globe itself (so the holy writings tell) except the words and love of God shall live and last forever.
