OBITUARY.
GRIMES.
Mrs. H. E. Grimes died Aug. 30th, 1918.
Anna Mary Degro, second daughter of Mrs. Chris Degro was born, Nov. 19, 1866, near Ridgeway, Iowa, where she grew to young womanhood. At the age of sixteen she was confirmed in the Lincoln Lutheran church.
On Dec. 15, 1902, she was united in marriage with Howard Ellsworth Grimes of Mortland, Md. For some time they resided in Minneapolis, but owing to the continued ill health of Mrs. Grimes they moved to Suisun, Cal., in hopes that her health might be restored by the congenial climate of that sunny land, and for a time it seemed that her fond hopes were to be realized, but this lasted only a brief time and the hopes of loved ones as well as herself were doomed to disappointment for she soon began to fail and continued to grow weaker until on Friday, Aug. 30, 1918 with her husband and sister-in-law at her beside the spark of life went out and her soul returned to her maker.
In compliance with the wishes of the deceased her body was brought back to Ridgeway, her childhood home, and laid to rest beside that of her father in Lincoln cemetery. After a brief service at the home Rev. Jordahl conducted the funeral service in the synod Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon Sept. 4. Miss Gunderson and Miss Fosse sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” as had been requested by Mrs. Grimes before her passing away.
There remain to mourn her loss her sorrowing husband, H. E. Grimes, her aged mother, Mrs. Chris Degro, three sisters, Mrs. H. Gulbranson, Mrs. C. A. Fosse and Miss Josephine Degro, three brothers, Charles, Olaf and Casper besides numerous relatives and friends.
Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. louis Munson of Decorah, Mrs. Ole Peterson of Decorah, Mrs. Linn Strayer of Cresco, also a friend Miss Clara Holtquist of Minneapolis.
CARD OF THANKS.
We wish to express our heartfelt appreciation of the sympathy, floral offerings and kindness from neighbors and friends, in our recent bereavement
H. D. Grimes.
Mrs. Chris Degro and Family.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in the Lincoln Cemetery. It also shows her maiden name spelled Digrud which does not agree with the above.
