Mrs. Adaline Murdock passed away last night, April 3, 1928, at 10:45 p.m., at the home of her daughter, Mrs. I. L. Sibert, at Bluffton. Old age was the cause of her death. She had been failing the past five or six years but had not been confined to her bed. She was up shortly before her death. The day of the funeral has not been arranged for at this writing, but the services will be held at Friends' Unity church at Bluffton and interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Hillman will officiate.
Adeline Lewis was born to Benjamin and Lydia Lewis August 18, 1838, at Swansie, Wales. When she was about 15 years of age she came to the United States and after spending a short time in Pennsylvania, she came to Winneshiek county, Iowa, where she had resided the past 75 years. On October 15th, 1862 in Decorah, she united in marriage to William Murdock. Nice children were born to this union. Two girls and one boy preceded her in death. Mr. Murdock who served in the Civil War, enlisting October 25, 1862, passed away March 21, 1908. Mrs. Murdock was a member of the Presbyterian church. She had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. I.L. Sibert, the past five years.
The deceased is survived by the following children: (Katherine) Mrs.I.L. Sibert, of Bluffton; John Murdock, Gladstone, Michigan; (Ada) Mrs. Claude Morton, Bluffton; Thomas Murdock, Bluffton; James of Minneapolis and Charles of Burr Oak. To these the sympathy of many friends is extended in the passing away of their aged mother.
