OBITUARY
DAWLEY.
Chandler Wheeler Dawley was born in Yates County, New York, on April 16, 1832, and passed from this life on March 9, 1917, after several weeks of suffering from Bright’s Disease, aged 84 years 10 months and 21 days.
When a small child, he moved with his parents to Chautauqua County, New York, where he grew to manhood. He came West in 1856, settling in Winneshiek County, Iowa, where he has always lived until about ten years ago when he came to Cresco to spent his remaining days with his son, Albertus E. Dawley, with the exception of a short time in which he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Ella L. Elzea, in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He was one of the rugged pioneers of this section of the state.
On May 19, 1860, he was united in marriage with Lovenia P. Wanless and to this union five children were born. Those of the children who survive to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate father are Charles L. of Burr Oak, Iowa, Mrs. Ella L. Elzea, of Wichita, Kansas, and Albertus E. of this city. Two fo the children Clara M. and Edgar E., with his wife, have preceded him to the Life Beyond.
He also leaves a grandson, Claude M. Elzea, of Mora, Minn., who had made his home with his grandparents for a number of years, and several other grandchildren and many friends to mourn his loss.
He was converted and united with the M. E. church in an early day and was ever a good, upright, Christian man.
The funeral was held from the home of his son, Albertus E. Dawley, in this city on Monday morning, March 12th, A. M. Vance, president of the Osage Seminary, who held services in the Baptist Church last Sunday, officiating, and he was buried by the side of his life companion in the family lot in the cemetery at Burr Oak, Iowa.

We desire to express our heartfelt thanks to our many kind friends for their sympathy and assistance in our sad bereavement, for the floral offerings and for the singing.
CHARLES L. DAWLEY.
