THE SILENT REAPER.
Four Old Residents of Winneshiek Called to Their Reward The Past Week.
A telegram received Tuesday evening by Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Knowlton brought them word of the death of Mrs. A. M. Perry of Seattle, Wash., at 1:30 o’clock that day. That news of her death might be expected was stated in a letter received only a day or two earlier. For fourteen years Mrs. Perry had been blind. Several operations for the removal of cataracts had proven unsuccessful and were the cause of great suffering, but she met it all uncomplainingly. Mrs. Perry’s maiden name was Calista B. Knowlton. She was born in Michigan December 17, 1839, moved to Illinois with her parents at the age of two and to Winneshiek county, Iowa, in the fall of 1860. She was married to A. M. Perry of Bluffton, January 11, 1863, and until a dozen years ago resided in Burr Oak and Decorah. Her home has since been in Seattle Beside her husband she is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Winnie P. Raymaker and her adopted daughter, Mrs. R. W. Nugent, her brother, William Knowlton of Decorah, and two sisters, Mrs. J. S. Johnson and Mrs. S. J Fraser of Minneapolis. During her life here she was a member of the Methodist church. We are not informed of her affiliation after removing to the west, but it is not probable that one of her strong religious tendency long remaining without some church connection. Old neighbors and friends in Decorah join in extending condolence to the bereaved relatives.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she died July 29, 1913. She is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Seattle, WA.
