Peter Leibold passed away at his home in this city on Saturday morning, after a lingering illness due to old age. He was born in Hessan Fulda, Germany, July 23, 1830. In 1858 he was united in marriage with Miss Catherine Goltbach. In 1861 he with his family came to America, settling in Filmore county, Minn., where they lived until 1870 when they moved to this place. Of this union six children survive, two daughters having passed to the Great Beyond. Those who survive to comfort their mother are Mrs. Agatha Schrepfer of Ida Grove, Mrs. Josephine Roche of Dubuque, Fred of Ossian and Henry, Frank and Albert of this place. Several years ago he retired from farming and has since made his home in this city Mr. Leibold was a well known citizen and was a man held in the highest respects. His loss will be keenly felt by the entire community. The funeral took place yesterday from the Catholic church at ten o’clock. Rev. Dragoun officiating. The burial was made in the Catholic cemetery.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in St. John’s Cemetery shows his date of birth as July 25, 1830 and that he died July 5, 1913.
