Died in California.
Walter C. Van Pelt died in Oakland, Cal., on Friday, May 16th, and was buried on Sunday, May 18th. He was born in Decorah, Iowa on Dec. 26, 1855, and resided in Winneshiek county up until ten years ago, when he with his family moved to Austin, Minn., where he lived until three years ago. Then he went to Montana, Mrs. Van Pelt died in Austin, Nov. 12th, 1907. Mr. Van Pelt went to Anaconda, Mont., in January 1912, (after spending the previous summer and a part of the winter in Minnesota), and on February 19th, of the same year, he was stricken with paralysis. His son took him to Oakland on June 9th last, to his daughter, Mrs. E. H. George, where he was at the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his loss two sons and two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. E. George and Harry Van Pelt and wife.
