THE SILENT REAPER.
JULIUS MARCUS.
Word came to Decorah last Friday of the death that day at Indianaoplis{sic} of Mr. Julius Marcus, the aged father of Mrs. Edward Bear. Mr. Marcus has been in failing health for some months but so gradual has been the decline that he was able to be about most of the time. He went to Indianapolis several weeks ago and it was while visiting another daughter, Mrs. Harmon Meyer, that his death occurred.
Mr. Marcus was a native of Germany and was seventy-seven years of age. For many years he was engaged in business in Chicago, but for the past half dozen years he has made his home in Decorah most of the time. He was a man of unassuming ways but those who grew into his life here found him kindly, genial and companionable. Beside his daughters mentioned above he is survived by one other daughter and one son, Mrs. J. Rothenberg and M. S. Marcus, both of Chicago. The funeral was held Tuesday in Chicago with burial at Rosehill cemetery. Edw. Bear went to Chicago Monday evening to be present at the funeral.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Jan. 7, 1838 and died March 28, 1913.
