OBITUARY.
On Thursday last, Mrs. Anna Whitlofer passed away after an illness of several days from pneumonia. For a great many years she had been a sufferer from heart disease, and at times her life was despaired of, but she always rallied from the attacks. It was therefore a surprise to those who knew her best that when death came to her it was not from the cause that had given her so much pain.
Mrs. Whitlofer’s maiden name was Anna Markley. She was born May 20, 1846, in Ontario, Canada, and was married in 1870 to Nicholas Whitlofer. Her husband died several years ago, but she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Samuelson of Decorah and Mrs. Emma Wilmot of Austin, Minn. Mrs. Whitlofer has been a resident of this county since 1875, she and her husband living on a farm in the Centennial neighborhood. She had many acquaintances and enjoyed the esteem of all who knew her. The funeral was held on Sunday last at Ossian, Rev. Tipton officiating and the remains were taken to the Centennial cemetery for burial.Source: Decorah Republican Mar. 28, 1912 P7 C2
The funeral of Mrs. Whitlofer, who died at her home in Decorah Thursday, was held in the Centennial church Sunday afternoon Rev. Tipton officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

The funeral of Mrs. Anna Whitlofer of Decorah was held at the Centennial church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Tipton of Fayette, pastor of the M. E. church of Ossian, officiating. Interment in the Greenwood cemetery. Mrs. Whitlofer was a resident of Ravena for many years and the many friends who followed her remains to her last resting place was a beautiful tribute to the high esteem in which she was held.
