Mrs. Ellen C. Johnson died at the home of her son Joseph Johnson over in Allamakee county ,Sunday morning at 6:30. With her another one of the old pioneers has gone, Mr. and Mrs. C. Johnson were among the early settlers in Allamakee county, and have lived on the farm they first purchased and settled on until their death. Mr. Johnson died some years ago, and the old homestead was taken possession of by his son, where this old lady has had the best of care. She reached the age of 80 years and 5 months, and leaved to mourn her demise, one daughter, Mrs. D. Hexom, and three sons, Joseph and Albert, who reside near Waukon, and Peter C., of Decorah. Mrs. Johnson has been in feeble health for some years, and to the last suffered a great deal.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her name as Elina Sivesind. She was born Feb. 1, 1831 and died June 25, 1911. She is buried in the Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery. It shows the sons all changed their name to Johnson and it also shows the daughter Mrs. Hexom.
