Another Pioneer at Rest.
On Wednesday of last week, the 7th, Anton Hegg, one of the pioneer residents of Springfield township, passed away after an illness of several months resulting from an attack of pneumonia. Mr. Hegg was born in Norway and came to America and settled in this county in the fifties. While not one of the very earliest of that Norwegian band that settled in Springfield he was not far behind them. His wife died about two years ago. Five children were born to them. Their daughters—Mrs. Soland and Mrs. Sagen—are both dead, the surviving children being Frederick Hegg, who lives on the Pacific coast, Oscar Hegg of Leroy and Adolph Hegg of Springfield. Two sisters and one brother—Mrs. A. Jacobson, Mrs. Gausta and John Hegg—also survive. The funeral and burial was held at the Washington Prairie church on Saturday last, Rev. Paul Koren officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Jan. 1, 1831 and died June 6, 1911.
