THE SILENT REAPER.
John Alfred Blegen, whose serious illness was noted last week, died on the 17th inst. at the hospital in LaCrosse, where he was taken by his parents, Rev. and Mrs. H. A. Blegen, in the hope that an operation might save his life. His death occurred only a few hours after he reached the hospital, the cause being appendicitis in an advanced stage. He was ill only a week. The deceased was born on February 3, 1894, at Leeds, N. D. When the family came to Decorah to reside, in 1905, he accompanied them. During the past three years he had been a student at Luther College, and was a member of the band. The funeral was held Friday afternoon at the First Lutheran church, and was largely attended. Interment was made in the Norwegian cemetery. Rev. and Mrs. Blegen have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
