AT REST.
Mrs. Harry J. Green Passed Away Tuesday After a Long Illness.

After a long and weary illness, during which much suffering and pain were endured with a patient hopefulness and a determination to live for her husband and children that deserved the reward of full recovery, Mrs. Alice Ade Tracy Green, wife of Brother H. J. Green of the Public Opinion, passed into her last rest on Tuesday afternoon at about 3 o ‘clock.
Mrs. Green was ill during last fall, but was apparently on the road to recovery. Soon after the holidays she experienced an attack of what seemed to be rheumatism and was taken to Prairie de Chien with the hope that treatment at the sanitarium might prove beneficial. She remained for several weeks, experiencing little if any benefit, and on her return she gradually grew worse. A counsel of physicians was held in which it developed that she was suffering from heart and kidney difficulties. Physicians, nurses and member of her family have been constantly in attendance at her bedside, but in spite of their best efforts Mrs. Green gradually sank until the end came.
Wherever the deceased was known there are friends who are offering sympathy and prayers for those who are so sorely bereft by her death. The happiness of her husband and children seemed always to be first in her thoughts and more than all others they will miss her love and care. She was as well a devoted daughter and sister. Her interests were not limited by the walls of her home. She was active in church work and a rare tact that is given to few made it seem natural for her to assume duties in connection with the Sunday School that endeared her to the little ones. She was also an active member of the woman’s auxiliary bodies of the G. A. R. and in other ways won a place in the affections of a host of acquaintances.
In their bereavement the REPUBLICAN extends to Bro. Green and his family sincere sympathy.
Mrs. Green was the only daughter of Mrs. L. L. Couse and sister of R. H. Tracy. She was born on February 16, 1876, in Sumner township, and her marriage to Mr. Green occurred on August 3, 1898. Beside her husband, mother and brother, she is survived by three children Marion, Harold and Marjory.
The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the residence on Washington street and interment will be made in Phelps cemetery. The remains may be viewed between the hours of one and two.
