MRS. ANNA M. FARNSWORTH DEAD.
Succumbed to an Attack of Pneumoina{sic} on February 2d, at Spring Valley, Minn.
Word came to the REPUBLICAN, Tuesday, of the death of Mrs. Anna M. Farnsworth at the home of a sister at Spring Valley, Minn., on Thursday last, the 2d inst., after an illness of thirteen days from la grippe followed by bronchial pneumonia. Mrs. Farnsworth became ill on Jan. 22d, suffering from pleurisy and la grippe, but it was not until the 28th that she was confined to her bed. She continued to grow worse steadily and pneumonia developed on the 31st. A council of physicians was held but they could extend no hope of her recovery. Death occurred at 1:25 o’clock on Thursday, just thirteen days after that of Mrs. A. A. Russell, one of her sisters.
Mrs. Farnsworth’s maiden name was Anna French. She was born at Industry, Canada, in 1847, and came to Minnesota when she was twelve years of age. She was married to Edwin Farnsworth in the year 1872 and moved to Decorah, Iowa, soon after. Her husband passed away Jan. 22, 1890, leaving her a widow a little over twenty-one years. At the time of her death she was 63 years, three months and eight days of age. She leaves a mother, two brothers and three sisters, besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. She was a woman of Christian virtues, kind of heart, a good neighbor and friend.
The funeral services were held at the Etna church, Rev. Cutler officiating. She was laid at rest in the Etna cemetery by the side of her father and sister.
