Mary Paine Harkness was born March 14, 1851, at Starksboro, Addison county Vermont. When she was six years old her parents moved west to Fillmore county Minnesota, and settled in Newburg township, where her girlhood days were spent. On October 19, 1871, she was united in marriage to Thomas B. Ingersoll, with whom she lived until the death of Mr. Ingersoll in 1882. Two children were born to this union, both of whom died in infancy. October 24, 1888, she was united in marriage to Silas C Brace, with whom she lived in Mable, Minn., until the early morning hours of the 14th inst., when after a brief illness of about four days the death angel stole in, and wrapping his dark mantle about the spirit of this beloved wife and sister bore her in triumph away at the age of 59 years, 10 months. On the 17th she was laid to rest in the beautiful little Hesper cemetery, under the impressive funeral rites of the Eastern Star Lodge of Canton, Minn. In her death society loses an honor member, and her husband and brother lose a devoted wife and sister.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Mary who was born in 1851. She is buried in the Hesper Public Cemetery.
