Nile Coats was called to Myron Friday by a telephone message of the death of his mother.

Mrs. Wm. McIntosh of Decorah and Jimmie and Len McIntire of Cresco attended the funeral of Mrs. Coats here Sunday.

Margaret Nicholson was born in Dyke, Scotland, Oct. 4, 1824, and died December 30, 1910, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Goerge Webster in Myron, at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 26 days. She was married to Spencer Coats April 10, 1853, and to their union five children were born, one son and four daughters. In 1864 she with her husband came to Allamakee county, Iowa, and soon after coming there she united with the M. E. church, but whenever possible she enjoyed the attendance of any meetings and remained steadfast in her faith until her death. Her husband preceded her about 13 years ago and one daughter, Dehlia, passed away in December, 1909. The remaining children, who were all present at the funeral, are Mrs. Jane Simmons and Miss Amelia Coats of Aberdeen, S. D., Mrs. Mary Ann Webster of Myron and Nile Coats of Frankville. She was a former resident of this place, having for many years lived on a farm 1½ miles east of town and a large number of old neighbors and friends gathered to pay their last tribute of respect. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Sunday morning at 11 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Ziegler, and interment was made in the village cemetery by the side of her husband.

Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone in the Frankville Cemetery shows her name is spelled Coates and shows her date of birth as Oct. 10, 1824 which does not agree with the above.
