OBITUARY.
MRS. BERTHA BLEKEBERG
Mrs. Bertha Blekeberg died on Friday last at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. O. Hagen in the fifth ward, after an illness of a month from rheumatism which followed in invalidism of four years. Mrs. Blekeberg’s maiden name was Bertha C. Rund. She was born in Kroedsherred, Norway, September 13, 1828, and was married in the early fifties, coming to America with her husband in 1854. Of thirteen children born to them only four survive. The are Colbjorn and Peter of Madison township, Mrs. C. O. Hagen of Decorah and Mrs. Anna Osgaard of North Dakota. Mrs. Blekeberg was a resident of Madison township for many years prior to June 22d last, when she came to make her home with her daughter in Decorah. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon at the church in Madison, Rev. Thos. Nilsson officiating. Among those who were present were Mrs. Gust. Knutson of Armstrong, Minn., a granddaughter, and Mds. Askelson and Torson of Manchester Iowa.
The children of Mrs. Blekeberg desire to extend thanks to friends and neighbors for kindness and sympathy in their bereavement.Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone in Madison Cemetery shows her name as Beret.
