The death of Blasius Manlet, one of our pioneer residents, occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Nienhaus, last Sunday morning after an illness of short duration. The deceased was born in Grishaem, Germany, February 3, 1832, and in his early boyhood came to this country, residing in Winneshiek county ever since. In 1867 he was united in marriage to Miss Rosie Loesch. This union was blessed with ten children, only four of whom survived. They are Peter and Anton, both of St. Paul, Mrs. Eret of Delavan, Minn., and Mrs. Nienhaus of this place. His wife preceded him in death twenty-six years, having died July 15, 1884. Funeral services will be held to-day from St. John’s church in this city, and interment at the Catholic cemetery. Despite his old age Mr. Manlet was unusually hale and hearty and up to about two weeks ago was able to get around very well.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in St. John’s Cemetery
