Died After Brief Illness.
Mrs. Elias Bucknell died Sunday morning last at ten o’clock after an illness of a little more than three days following a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Bucknell had been visiting at the home of her son Richard in this city and sustained the stroke early Thursday morning. Unconsciousness followed in a few hours, from which she never rallied.
Mrs. Bucknell’s maiden name was Jane Stokes and she was born April 4, 1842, in Swansea, Wales. At the age of three she came to America with her parents, living for nine years in Pennsylvania, then coming to Minnesota and later to Decorah. Here, on April 17, 1861, she was married to Elias Bucknell. With the exception of ten years during which they resided in Floyd county, Mr. and Mrs. Bucknell have since been residents of Bluffton township. Twelve children were born to them, and all but two are living, viz.: Mrs. Clara Greer of Ames, John of St. Paul, Mrs. Mary J. Knowlton of Prosper, Mds. Fanny and Elizabeth Brownlow of Leroy, Mrs. Maud Fred{?} of Burr Oak, Archie, who lived at home, Mrs. Nellie Bentley of Bluffton and Richard and B. F. Bucknell of Decorah. Besides these the deceased is survived by her husband and twenty-eight grandchildren. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the home of Richard Bucknell; Rev. M. Willett officiating, and the remains were interred in the Phelps cemetery. The sympathy of a large number of acquaintances and old friends go out to the family in their bereavement.

Mrs. Maud Frye was called to Decorah last week to help care for her mother who was very sick at the Richard Bucknell home.
