Killed by the Cars.

[Calmar Courier.]

Last Sunday afternoon October, 16th, 1910, Joseph Meyer and wife received a telegram from Chicago stating that their son Eddie was seriously hurt, and they boarded No 8 and left for Chicago last evening, only to find him a corpse when they reached Chicago. Eddie was braking and as the train stopped at West Chicago he got off and got a lunch, and then boarded the train as it was moving toward Chicago. From what information the father could get he thinks his son got on top of the car just before reaching a bridge and that the overhanging bridge knocked him off and a number of cars passed over him, causing death almost instantly.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Aug. 13, 1997 and died Oct. 17, 1910. He is buried in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
