One of the saddest deaths we have been called upon to record occurred last Sunday Sept. 25th, when Carl Liquin passed to his eternal rest. Carl Theodore Liquin was born in Pleasant township, Winneshiek county, Iowa, March 1, 1887, his boyhood days being spent at home. On attaining to full manhood he entered Upper Iowa university, where he was a popular student and an A 1 scholar. The last year he has been staying at home, where he was a loyal son, a devoted brother, and a friend to everybody. He was a hard worker, but found time to cultivate arts. He was a musician of no small ability, being solo cornet player with the band. He possessed a beautiful and cultured voice and was a leading member of the choir. He always took a great deal of interest in church affairs, and was a very active member of the young people’s society. He was very temperate in his habits. The taste of liquor was unknown to him. His appearance and behavior was always gentlemanly. In short, Carl was an ideal boy, and the bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement. The funeral will be held to-morrow (Tuesday), from the Big Canoe church, and the remains laid to rest beside that of his grandparents in the Methodist cemetery. He leaves to mourn his demise his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Liquin, his two sisters, Lilly and Cora, and his two brothers, Oscar and Fritjof, and a host of friends without number. We are all sorry to have you leave us but we are glad to know you have gone to a far better place.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in 1887 and died Sept. 25, 1910. He is buried in the Big Canoe Norwegian Cemetery.
