Mrs. Anna Selland was born and raised in Voss, Bergensstift, Norway, on Jan 10, 1819, and was married to Eric E. Selland. They came to this country in 1849, settling first at Koshkonong, Wis., where they remained for one year then coming west. They settled on the placer which has since been her home, the Erick Force place. She went through the hardships of pioneer life, and though of frail body, was very active and a hard worker. She was always of a genial disposition, a true Christian and a helpful neighbor. She has of late years made her home with her daughter Mrs. Erik Forde, who has the sympathy of the entire community in her bereavement. The remains will be laid to rest to-day in the Big Canoe cemetery, where her husband preceded her. The cause of her death, which occurred Thursday, Aug. 18, was complications incident to old age.
