Death Come to Andrew W. Olson.
Andrew W. Olson, a Winneshiek county pioneer by birth, died Tuesday morning at eleven o’clock at his home on Mechanic street, after an illness of eleven weeks from blood poison complicated with diabetes. In April Mr. Olson went to Stoughton, Wis., to work at his trade—painting. While there an injury to a finger of the left hand developed blood poison, and in spite of all that could be done for him he grew worse steadily, and death came at last as a relief to intense suffering.
Mr. Olson was born in Glenwood township on June{?} 13, 1855, and when one year of age was brought to Decorah by his parents. His home has since been here. He learned the painter’s trade and devoted himself almost exclusively thereto. On Oct. 5, 1895, he was married to Betsy Hegg, and she, with three sisters—Mrs. Edw. Ostenson, Misses Christine and Anna Peterson—survive. The deceased was a man of quiet, undemonstrative temperament, a good neighbor, kind husband, and a faithful workman. The funeral will be held this afternoon at two o’clock at the United Lutheran church and interment will be made in the Norwegian cemetery.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in Lutheran Decorah Cemetery shows he was born Jan. 13, 1855 and that he died July 26, 1910.
