Mrs. James Stockman, who has been ill for the past three weeks, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Jennie James last Thursday morning at the age of 79 years. She was born in Ireland, coming to this country when quite young. She was married in Vermont to James Stockman. There they made their home until they came to Iowa. About ten years ago Mr. Stockman died at Madrid, Iowa. Mrs. tSockman{sic} has been a resident of our community for about 35 years, except a few years in Dakota. She was a woman who was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by friends as well as relatives. She leaves to mourn her loss one son, Elwin of Cresco, Mrs. Florence Bents of Armour, S. D., and Mrs. Jennie James of Orleans. One brother, E. Ryan of Buffalo, N. Y., several grandchildren and two great grandchildren, all of whom have the sincere sympathy of the community. The funeral was held at the Morgan church on Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Gammons of Cresco and Rev. Young of Ridgeway. She was laid to rest in the Kendallville cemetery by the side of her husband and three children.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Bridget who was born April 6, 1831 and died June 30, 1910.
