Ralph Emery Sheley was born in Burr Oak township June 14, 1887, and died at his home in Burr Oak, June 16, 1910, aged 23 years and 2 days. He went to Dakota six weeks ago and the following week was taken seriously ill. Three weeks of suffering passed by, with a longing desire for home and mother. He was brought home a week ago and was tenderly cared for by loving hands, but all to no avail. Soon after coming home he called his loved ones to his bedside and said that Jesus had spoken peace to his soul and told him that he was to reign with him forever. Any many times through his illness he asked for hymns to be sung and the Bible read to him. Ralph was of that kindly, cheerful disposition that won for him a host of friends and who with his parents and sisters and other relatives deeply mourn his early death. Though our hearts are crushed with grief over the loss of our loved one, we wish to render our sincere thanks to all who have been so kind to us. Especially to the physician who stayed by us through the long vigil of suffering. To the minister, choir, friends, neighbors and M. W. A. We thank you one and all for what you have done for us in our great bereavement. Mr. and Mrs. Sheley and family. The sympathy of their many friends go out to the stricken family in their sad bereavement.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in the Burr Oak Cemetery.
