Mrs. Fred J. Rosenthal at Rest.
After an illness of ten days, during which she did not regain consciousness, Mrs. Fred J. Rosenthal passed away yesterday afternoon. The result has not been unexpected, yet the family and their friends have clung to the tiny thread of hope that a favorable turn might come in her condition. In their bereavement the family have the sympathy of the community. Mrs. Rosenthal was a devoted wife and mother. Her life centered in her home but she found time and pleasure in doing acts of neighborly kindness that have endeared her to all who knew her. We have not learned when the funeral will be held.

OBITUARY.
Mrs. Fred J. Rosenthal, whose death was recorded in last week’s REPUBLICAN, was born in Reutlinger, Wurtemburg, Germany, on Feb. 15, 1859{?}, her maiden name being Christianna Dorothea Linkenheil. She came to America and Decorah about twenty-eight years ago. Here she met and married Fred J. Rosenthal, the date of their marriage being Nov. 29, 1885. To them seven children were born, one of whom died in infancy. The surviving children are Eugene, Marcelle, Rene, Vera, Constance and Frederick. The funeral was held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the First Lutheran church, Rev. I. B. Torrison officiating, and the remains were interred in Phelps cemetery. Beside the family and their friends there were present Mrs. Geo. B. Reinhart, of Ashling, Wis., Miss Eugenia Linkenheil of New York and Charles Linkenheil of Lemars, Iowa, sisters and brother of the deceased. A profusion of flowers gave evidence of the high esteem in which the deceased was held and express the sympathy that is felt for the family in their bereavement.

Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone in Phelps Cemetery shows she was born Feb. 12, 1860 and her name as Anna.
