F. R. FULTON DEAD.
Former Decorian Passed Away Saturday Morning at Evanston, Ill.
A telegram to the REPUBLICAN on Saturday last brought the news of the death that morning at his home in Evanston, Ill., of Frederick R. Fulton, once a well known resident of Decorah.
Mr. Fulton was born at Beckman Town, New York, about sixty-one years ago, his father being Dr. Fulton. At Burlington, Vt., the deceased entered upon a course in medicine but his health failed and he was warned by the president of the college that if he did not seek a different climate his life could not be prolonged more than six months. Coming to Decorah in 1864 Mr. Fulton engaged in outdoor work, devoting his time principally to putting up eavetroughing and lightning rods.
With the return of health he entered the office of Levi Bullis where he studied law and formed a partnedship(sic} with Mr. Bullis in the real estate business, an association that proved profitable and successful. He also started a set of abstract books which formed a lucrative part of his business. About the year 1872 he went to Cherokee where he participated in the starting of the bank which later became the First National Bank. In 1880 he located at Grand Forks, N. D., where he engaged in the brokerage business, handling largely county, school and city bonds of high class. Some years ago he closed his business in North Dakota and moved to Chicago and opened an office where Dame Fortune continued to smile upon him and at his death he left a fortune that is estimated as high as a half million dollars.
Some time after coming west Mr. Fulton returned to New York and married Ruth Landon. We are without the data on this event, but all who shared their acquaintance during their years in Decorah know that it was a happy union. And in her bereavement Mrs. Fulton will have the sympathy of a host of friends.
During the past two years Mr. Fulton has been a constant and great sufferer from Bright’s disease. Only a rugged constitution helped him to withstand the inroads of the disease and death came to him as a release.
The funeral was held Tuesday last.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Jan. 23, 1849 and died May 7, 1910. He is buried in Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago, IL.
