Charles Beebe was born at Grandville, New York, Oct. 4, 1834. When but a child he moved with his parents to Illinois and in 1855 came to Iowa, where he lived at Freeport until a year and a half ago, when he came to Frankville and made his home with his niece Mrs. Roma Padden. He died Dec. 18, 1909, after a lingering illness from heart disease, complicated with dropsy. When the Civil War broke out he enlisted and served his country faithfully for four years and three months. He was married to Miss Lovina Oberham{sp}, Oct. 4, 1866, who preceded him to that better land Jan. 10., 1907. No children blessed their union, but so great was their love for them that at one time they adopted a girl who died at the age of 17 and it was seldom that their home was without some child whom they took delight in caring for. He united with the M. E. church 30 years ago and has lived a good life always pleasant, and was well liked by all who knew him. The funeral services will be held at Freeport this afternoon at 1 o’clock, Rev. Stone of the M. E. church officiating, with burial at the same place.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Oct. 24, 1834 and is buried in the Freeport Cemetery. It also shows his wife’s maiden name was spelled Obriham.
