Obituary.
Ann Malinda Houck departed this life at the home of her son, W. H. Houck in Burr Oak township, Tuesday afternoon of this week after an illness extending over the period of about eight months, although confined to her bed less than a week.
Ann Malinda Sill was born in the state of New York, October 14, 1828, and was married on January 1, 1850, to Jacob Houck, whose obituary appeared in The Decorah Republican’s last issue. After having lived together for almost sixty years, fate decreed that even in death they should be united, his death only preceding hers by about eight days. Three sons and an adopted daughter survive her.
Deceased was a lifelong professing Christian, during the earlier years of her life being a communicant of the Baptist denomination and latterly a member of the Adventist Christian Church. She was a woman of strong religious temperament, and so long as her strength permitted took an active part in church work. Of strong convictions, she never lacked the courage of her convictions. Whole-souled and genuine, she hated hypocrisy in whatever form it appeared to her. She was light hearted and jovial, always ready and even anxious to lend a helping hand. The struggle of her life was toward better things and her life added to the sum of human good.
The funeral is held to-day at 11:00 o’clock a. m. from the home of her son, W. H. Houck, in Burr Oak township, Rev. Mellott officiating. Interment in the cemetery at Burr Oak.

Transcriber's Note: Her gravestone shows her name as Anna and that she died Nov. 30, 1909,

Burr Oak Cemetery
