This community was shocked on Tuesday morning to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Traaen. She had been in good health of late and on Monday was as well as ever but some time during the night she suffered a stroke of paralysis or apoplexy. She did not regain consciousness but passed away at 2:30 in the morning. Though her death was sudden it was not altogether unexpected as she had suffered a light stroke last winter, and was told she was liable to have another at any time. She was at the time of her death 69 years, 3 mos. and 5 days. By her death this community is deprived of one of its best citizens. She was of a kindly disposition, a willing worker in the church and a willing helper in everything that was for the betterment of the community. The funeral was held on Friday, with interment in the Big Canoe church cemetery, Rev. Seehuss officiating both at the house and the church.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Torgun who was born Aug. 12, 1840 and died Nov. 17, 1909. She is buried in the Big Canoe Lutheran Cemetery.
