John Nieberlein Passes Away.
After an illness which began on June 24th last, due to a stroke of paralysis, John Neiberlein died on Thursday last, Oct. 21st, leaving to mourn him his wife, five daughters and two sons. The deceased was born in Grossgotten, Germany, and came to Canada when a young. man He located first at Ellis and later at Logan, where he was married to Pollie Goetinger. There were nine children born to them. His daughter Frances and son Daniel preceded him in death. The living children are Mrs. Mary Turner, Mrs. Maggie Keune, Mrs. Christine Glimps, Mrs. Kate Ackerson, Mrs. Edith Oese, George and Benjamin Neiberlein. Mr. Nieberlein was a resident of Hesper township for many years prior to coming to Decorah six years ago, and was known as a man of upright Christian character. He was a member of the German Evangelical church, and during his afflictions he was ever cheerful, and with a degree of satisfaction gave expression of his faith in God, and hope of glory. The funeral was held Sunday, Rev. H. W. Schneider officiating. Decorah Camp, M. W. A., of which he was a member, having charge.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Nov. 8, 1838 and died Oct. 21, 1909. He is buried in Phelps cemetery.
