A Sad Home Coming.
On Tuesday of last week Mrs. Wm. C. McLain and her little daughters Irene and Marian started for Neils, Iowa, for a visit with Mrs. F. Standly, Mrs. McLain’s sister. The little ones were well when they left Decorah but early Wednesday morning the younger one—Marian—aged only a little over a year, was taken sick. Medicine was procured, although it was not considered that she was dangerously ill. Mrs. McLain sent word home of the facts and stated that she thought the little one would soon be all right. Saturday Mr. McLain was greviously shocked when a message came telling of the baby’s death Friday evening. The telegram also stated that the remains would be brought home on the 11:10 train Saturday night. Mr. McLain met his wife at Calmar. Sunday morning the older daughter became ill also. Dr. Barfoot was called and pronounced her ailment as cholera infantum, the same as the baby died from and that she was too ill to be moved. She has been gaining slowly and it is hoped will experience no relapse.
Little Marian was laid at rest in the Canoe cemetery Monday afternoon, Rev. F. G. Young officiating, the service being held at 1:30 o’clock at the home northwest of town. The parents, four brothers and sister have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her name spelled Marion and that she was born Sept. 5, 1908 and died Sept. 24, 1909. She is buried in the Russell Cemetery.
