The death of Mrs. Anna Martinek, an esteemed resident of this city, occurred Monday morning, Aug. 16, 1909, at the home of her son V. J., after an illness of six weeks, during which time she was confined to her bed almost continually. Anna Slepicka was born in Tesinie, Bohemia, Feb. 17, 1830, where she spent her early child- and womanhood. She was united in marriage to Mr. Martinek, which union was blessed with twelve children, six daughters and six sons, but only the youngest son survives. The funeral services were held Wednesday at 9:30 from the St. John’s church, Rev. Father Marshalek officiating, with interment in the Catholic cemetery. The pall bearers were John Votava, John Heine, Jos. Schissel, John Sluka, Frank Schreiber and Nick Wagner.
