Old Residents Pass Away.
A telegram came Tuesday afternoon from Salem, New York, stated that Mrs. Annetta J. Dennis, a former well known resident of Decorah, had died earlier in the day, and that the remains would be brought here for burial, arriving Saturday. Whether burial will be made direct from the train, or will be preceded by funeral services, will be determined upon receipt of a letter which follows the telegram telling of her death. Mrs. Dennis’ maiden name was Annetta J. Haggart. She was married to Dexter B. Dennis in 1862 and came to Decorah. She continued to make her home here until about three years ago when ill health made it advisable to return to New York where she has since resided with her brother. Her remains will be interred in Phelps cemetery beside those of her husband and two children, who died in infancy.

Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone shows her name as Anna. She was born Sept. 22, 1839 and died July 27, 1909.
