The following obituary was handed us: Maria Garvin wife of Martin Albright, departed this life at her home near Castalia, Iowa, at 2:30 Thursday afternoon, May 20, 1909. Mrs. Albright was born in Chatam, Canada, May 4, 1840. June 14, 1859, she was united in marriage to Martin Albright, who preceded her to eternal rest only 16 months. They came to Iowa in June, 1861, settling near Postville, and later moved near Castalia, where they resided at the time of their death. To them were born six children, three sons and three daughters; Mrs. J P. Helmer of Cresco, Mrs. I. J. Allen of Postville, W. M. Albright and Mrs. C. M. Birdsell of Frankville, C. H. and Elza Albright of Castalie. These with thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild are living. Nearly thirty years ago Mrs. Albright united with the United Brethren church and has been a worthy member ever since. She was a woman above the average in intelligence, a faithful, devoted wife, a kind and loving mother. The good advice given her children as they stood around her deathbed will never be forgotten. The influence of her kind words and unselfish life will never die. The children and all her relatives desire to thank neighbors and friends for their kindly ministrations given during her last sickness. The funeral was held from the U. B. church, in Castalia, May 22, her pastor, Rev. Penn, officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her name as Marie and that she is buried in Pleasant View Cemetery.
