Burr Oak, as a whole was grieved to hear of the death of Irene Headington Saturday noon. The child was ailing, but not considered sick until Sunday night, the 21st. Monday morning the doctor was called, and she grew rapidly worse. Dr. Emmons called Dr. Kessel from Cresco, and everything was done that was possible. She was a great sufferer, her disease being peritonitis. Irene was a lovely child, the only daughter of James and Louise Headington, who have the unstinted sympathy of the whole community in their great sorrow. She was seven and a half years old, the joy and light of the homes of her grandparents as well as her own home The funeral was held to-day at the M. E. church and the large attendance attested the regard in which the family are held. Rev. Lee from New Hampton, a former pastor here, conducted the services, assisted by the present pastor, Rev. Densmore. I stated last week that we hadn’t had a funeral in B. O. this winter, little thinking this one would come so soon.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Lolia Irene who was born Aug. 28, 1901 and is buried in the Burr Oak Cemetery.
