Mrs. Raffel O. Selnes was born in Norway, Dec. 26, 1827, and died at the home of her son O M. Selnes in Hesper, Iowa, Jan. 25, 1909. She was first married to Sivert Larsen, by whom she had four children, who are now living, Nels Iverson and Lars Iverson of Bottineau Co., N. D., Mrs. O. T. Aamuth of Ryder, N. D., and Mrs. H. M. Peterso of Flaxton, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Iverson came to America in 1866 and settled in this county, on Washington Prairie, where Mr. Larsen died. In 1869 Mrs. Iverson married Raffel O. Selnes, by whom she had one child, O. M. Selnes, with whom she made her home since the death of Mr. Selnes, Jan. 30, 1908. The three sons were at the funeral on the first at the Lutheran church. Besides the sons and daughters, Mrs. Selnes leaves forty-four grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren to mourn her loss.
