THE SILENT REAPER.
MRS. JOHN M. BILLO.
On Wednesday of last week, at the family home in the fifth ward, occurred the death of Mrs. John M. Billo, after an illness of five weeks which was preceded by several months of declining health.
Mrs. Billo’s maiden name was Katherine Maria Hab. She was born May 24, 1841, in Ruggel, Lichtenstein Germany. In 1868 she was married to Anton Mahr coming to the United States and settling in McGregor, Iowa. Three children were the fruit of this union, the surviving ones being Miss Mary Mahr of Decorah and Mrs. W. E. Domnic of Dayton, Onio. In 1873 she was married to John M. Billo and came to Decorah to reside. Three children were born to them—Josephine and F. J. Billo of Decorah, and J. M. Billo of Redwing—all of whom survive. Other surviving relatives are her cousin, Jos. Biedermann of Decorah and two sisters residing in Germany.
Mrs. Billo was a good mother and kind neighbor, whose presence will indeed be missed from the family circle.
The funeral was held Saturday morning at St. Benedict’s church, where she was a faithful member and attendant. Rev. Father Mullen officiating, and the remains were laid at rest in the Catholic cemetery.
