DEATH OF HENRY A. BAKER.
Former Resident of Winneshiek Passes Away at His Home in Sioux City Last Thursday.

For some time it has been known to a few of his old-time friends in Winneshiek county that Henry A. Baker, for many years a resident and merchant at Ossian, was ill, with creeping paralysis and that death was not unexpected at any time, He passed away last Thursday morning at his home in Sioux City, where he has resided for the past twenty-one years. The Sioux City Journal of Friday makes the following mention concerning him:--
Henry A. Baker for twenty-one years a resident of Sioux City and for eighteen years of that time head of the Baker overall factory, 817 Fourth street, died at his home, 208 Seventeenth street, shortly after 7 o’clock yesterday morning of creeping paralysis, after an illness of over two years.
Mr. Baker was born in Crown Point, N. Y. 66 years ago, and came to Iowa, settling in Winneshiek county, in 1850. There for a number of years he was associated in business with his brother, A. D. Baker, and later both came to Sioux City. For eight years H. A. Baker represented Winneshiek county in the state legislature, serving two terms in the House and one in the Senate.
The deceased man leaves, besides his wife and brother, A. D. Baker, three sons, F. D. Baker, of Sioux City, E. A. Baker, of Seattle, and B. W. Baker, of Plainview, Tex.
Mr. Baker was an Elk and Mason. For years he was a member of the board of directors of the Riverside Boat club.
Besides his brother, A. D. Baker, Mr. Baker is survived by his brothers F. H., A. C., and E. W., of Decorah, and G. R. of Ridgeway, F. H. and G. R. Baker went to Sioux City Sunday night to attend the funeral.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was William Henry Adams Baker who was born June 10, 1842 and died Oct. 22, 1908. He is buried in Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City, IA
