OBITUARY.
MRS. AARON R. YOUNG.
Mrs. Aaron R. Young, mother of Frank Young of Decorah, died on Friday, July 31st, at her home in Waucoma, aged 77 years and 8 months. Mrs. Young’s maiden name was Mary Jane Rogers. She was one of a family of eleven children, her father being Francis Rogers, who came to Winneshiek county in 1847 and settled on government land about three miles from Fort Atkinson. She was born in Lowell, Vt., Dec. 1, 1831, hence was fifteen years of age when she came to Winneshiek county, thus making her one of the very early pioneers. At the age of seventeen she married Aaron R. Young, then a soldier stationed at Fort Atkinson. At the end of his service he purchased her father’s farm and together they continued to reside there for over fifty years. Seven children were born to them, one son and one daughter dying in infancy, leaving four sons—Lewis, John, Frank and Joseph,--and one daughter—Grace—to cherish the memory of a devoted mother. Since the death of her husband she has made her home with her daughter in Waucoma.
Mrs. Young was a member of the Baptist church, having joined the church at Volga City at the age of fifteen.
The funeral was held on Monday, Aug. 2d.
