OLD RESIDENTS CALLED.
Henry Adams Passed Away Monday—Henry Yager Died Tuesday at Riceville.
HENRY YAGER.
It was with no little regret that the REPUBLICAN leaned Tuesday morning of the death of Henry Yager at his home at Riceville. Mr. Yager was born in Ohio and came west in the fifties, settling in Pleasant township, Winneshiek Co., where he prospered at farming. He was an ardent Democrat and at an opportune time received the nomination of his party as a candidate for the county treasurship{sp}, being elected by a very small majority. He served one term and then retired to private life, later moving to Riceville, where one of his older sons resided. With another son he engaged in the grocery business. In this venture prosperity attended him.
A short time ago Mr. Yager became afflicted with dropsy and his condition became so serious that his family gathered at his bedside. He lingered until Tuesday morning, when death claimed him. He is survived by his wife, six sons and one daughter. The children are Frani, Will and Simon of Calmer, Oliver and Henry of Riceville and Charley of Rockford, and Mrs. Robert Price of Decorah. The funeral will be held today at two o’clock. Ina ll the relations of life the deceased was a good man.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Nov. 13, 1827 and died March 10, 1908. He is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville.
