Mrs. Bergette Engen, widow, passed away at home in Madison twp., Monday, Feb. 9, at 3:15 p.m. Death was due to old age. Mrs. Engen was born in Norway, June 22, 1847. She came to America with her parents, Ole and Helen Hotvedt, when she was an infant. She has lived in Madison township 76 years, being the oldest in the township and one of the two or three eldest in the county. The funeral wil be held tomorrow with burial in the Madison Cemetery.

Mrs. Bergette Engen, one of the beloved and well known residents of Madison township, passed away at her home Monday, Feb. 9, her death being due to the infirmities of old age. The deceased was born in Norway, June 22, 1847, and came to the United States with her parents when she was an infant.
After her marriage the family home had been in Madison township, this county, many years. The husband and father passed away about 11 years ago. Eight sons and one daughter are left to mourn the memory of this beloved and good mother, who bore the respect and esteem of many friends during her long residence here, and the sympathy of many friends is extended to them. The funeral services will be held tomorrow, Thursday, at 12:00 o'clock from the home, and 2:00 o'clock from the Madison church. Rev. Jordahl officiating.
