Ole Samuelson came down from Decorah Saturday, called here by the serious illness of his mother.

The home of Ole Samuelson has been one of sickness and sorrow the past week. He with his wife and daughter were stricken with the grip a little over two weeks ago. A daughter, Mrs. Flatland, of Ossian, came last Monday and has been constantly at their bedsides, caring for them with the assistance of kind neighbors. Mr. S. and Lena are on the way to recovery, but Mrs. Samuelson, who has been in poor health for some time, failed rapidly and passed away Sunday morning. The funeral services will be held to-morrow at the house. Further particulars next week.

Ingabald{sic} Moe was born April 14, 1838, in Lardal, Norway. She was married in 1860 to Ole Samuelson and in 1872 they emigrated to America. Ten children were born to them, six of whom are living. She united with the Lutheran church in her youth and has always lived a consistent Christian life and saw all her children baptized and confirmed in her faith. She died Sunday morning, Jan. 12, 1908, at the age of 69 years, of influenza, after an illness of nine days. She retained her senses until the last and was resigned to go, partaking of the sacrament which was administered y her pastor Rev. Felca, the evening before she died. An aged husband, one son, Ole of Decorah, five daughters, Mrs. Hannah Heartso of Guonna, N. D., Mrs. Anna Otterson, also of North Dakota, Mrs. Flatland of Ossian, Mrs. Ida Birdsell of Frankville and Miss Lena at home survive to mourn their loss. A loyal wife, a devoted mother, an earnest Christian, “she hath done what she could,” and left this as her memorial. The children were all present at the funeral, with the exception of Mrs. Heartso and Mrs. Otterson. The former could not come on account of of{sic} sickness and the latter, who had just moved to another part of the state and whose address is not known, does not know that her mother has passed away. The funeral was held Wednesday, a short service being conducted at the house by Re. Gregg, after which the remains were taken to Glenwood and services held at the Norwegian church, Rev. Felda officiating, with burial at the same place. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of all. The family wish to extend their sincere thanks to all those who kindly assisted them during the sickness and death of their loved one.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her name spelled Ingeborg. She is buried in the Pontoppidan Cemetery. Her gravestone appears to show that she was born in 1839.
